María and Antoine stayed at the castillo in Kalmthout and brought us back this audio collage of impressions, much like a photo album of a weekend getaway.  A collection of snapshots.

  With nothing more than a clarinet, a Casio SK-1 and a Zoom recorder, they explored the calming greenery and sat down next to the mallards around the pond.   The album tells the story of two people getting to know each other through uninhibited, intuitive improvisations and childlike play in the context of an inspiring neutral ground.

Pleasant surprises like electrical outlets throughout the park and a piano indoors fed into the process: they were able to move their mobile studio freely and really let the characteristics of the space shine in the recordings.   Hesitant clarinet play, vulnerable voice experiments, nostalgic piano, bird sounds, rustling leaves all interact and paint a picture of peaceful days spent discussing and sipping mate.   

The experimentations were recorded and solely cut in the studio; no further editing. No overthinking. No worries. Only moments captured for all of us to enjoy. Eyes closed. Soothing. Engaging. Quack.
